ACEM ASM 2026 is committed to delivering a thoughtful, inclusive and responsible meeting in Boorloo, Perth. This year’s ASM will be hosted at Perth Convention and Exhibition Centre, a venue with an established sustainability strategy focused on responsible environmental practices, community engagement, ethical business operations and continuous improvement.
Across the ASM, sustainability will be considered through venue operations, delegate experience, catering, waste reduction, accessibility, local sourcing and community impact. Delegates are encouraged to take part by making conscious travel choices, using digital materials where possible, reducing single-use waste and supporting the initiatives available onsite.
01 Venue Sustainability at PCEC
PCEC’s sustainability approach aligns with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals and the environmental commitments of its parent company, Downer Group. The venue is working to reduce its environmental footprint through energy efficiency, waste management, food rescue, local procurement, carbon-positive options and sustainable event practices.
02 Waste Reduction and Circular Economy
Waste reduction will be supported through PCEC’s established recycling, circular economy and community donation programs. The venue’s initiatives include cardboard and timber pallet recycling, organic waste diversion, participation in Containers for Change and programs designed to keep valuable resources out of landfill.
03 Responsible Catering and Local Sourcing
Food and beverage choices are an important part of the ASM’s sustainability approach. PCEC prioritises Western Australian suppliers where possible, helping reduce food miles and support the local economy. The venue has also introduced Western Australian beverage options, integrates Indigenous ingredients into menu planning, and uses honey from WA-native beehives located on the PCEC roof.

To help reduce unnecessary printed materials, ASM information will be made available through digital channels wherever practical. Delegates will be encouraged to use the ASM website, final delegate communications and the event app for:

06 Accessibility, Inclusion and Wellbeing
Sustainability also includes creating an event environment that is welcoming, accessible and supportive. ACEM ASM 2026 will include family-friendly and inclusive supports, with reasonable adjustments available for delegates with access, mobility, sensory, communication, dietary, carer or other support requirements.
07 How Delegates Can Support a More Sustainable ASM
- Use public transport, walk or share rides where practical. PCEC is located close to Elizabeth Quay Train Station, Elizabeth Quay Busport and CBD accommodation.
- Bring a reusable water bottle and coffee cup where possible.
- Use the ASM website and event app instead of printing program materials.
- Place recyclable items in the correct bins and support Containers for Change collection points onsite.
- Choose local experiences, suppliers and businesses while visiting Perth.
- Consider supporting PCEC's carbon-positive tree planting opportunities.
