What Every Emergency Physician Implementing Point-of-Care hs-Troponin into the ED Wants to Know, But May Not Know to Ask

Speaker: Dr Laura Joyce

Join Dr Laura Joyce, Emergency Physician at Christchurch Hospital and Deputy Dean at the University of Otago Christchurch, for an interactive conversation on implementing point-of-care high-sensitivity troponin testing in the emergency department. Drawing on her experience leading clinical research and implementation initiatives across New Zealand, Dr Joyce will briefly introduce key lessons learned from introducing point-of-care hs-troponin into real-world emergency care settings.

The discussion will then open to participants to explore the practical questions that often arise during implementation but are not always addressed in publications or protocols. Topics may include clinical adoption, pathway design, collaboration with laboratory and IT teams, managing stakeholder concerns, operational impacts on patient flow and length of stay, and maintaining patient safety while introducing new diagnostic approaches.

Attendees are encouraged to share their own experiences, challenges, and questions. The session aims to create a practical peer-to-peer discussion where emergency clinicians can exchange insights and gain actionable ideas to support successful implementation of point-of-care hs-troponin testing in their own departments.
