During the session, global experts will explore the real-world implementation of point-of-care high-sensitivity troponin I in the Emergency Department, focusing on how rapid whole-blood testing can support accelerated chest pain assessment and clinical decision-making. The session will explore the use of POC hs-cTnI within the ESC 0/1-hour accelerated diagnostic protocol, including practical considerations for workflow integration and timely results.
Real-world evidence from the large clinical trial (MACROS 2) will highlight the clinical and analytical performance of whole-blood POC hs-cTnI testing in the ED. The session will also discuss Single Sample Rule-Out (SSRO) approaches and their potential role in accelerating appropriate patient rule-out.
The session is highly relevant to Emergency Medicine as Point-of-care hs-cTnI has the potential to bring high-sensitivity cardiac biomarker testing closer to the point of clinical decision-making, supporting faster diagnosis and rule-out, more efficient patient flow, and potentially shorter Emergency Department length of stay, while maintaining appropriate clinical and analytical standards.
