Helen Milroy is a descendant of the Palyku people of the Pilbara region of Western Australia and was born and educated in Perth. She studied Medicine at the University of Western Australia, worked as a General Practitioner and Consultant in Childhood Sexual Abuse at Princess Margaret Hospital for Children, and later trained as a Child and Adolescent Psychiatrist.
Helen is the Associate Dean Indigenous for the UWA Medical School, and an Honorary Research Fellow at the Telethon Kids Institute. She is the Chair of Gayaa Dhuwi Proud Spirit Australia and a board member of Beyond Blue. Her work focuses on child mental health, trauma-informed care, Indigenous knowledge, leadership, and workforce development.
