Dr Esperanza Martinez is a medical doctor and public health expert with more than 20 years of experience in global health and humanitarian action in armed conflict settings. She is Professor of Practice and Head of Health and Human Security at The Australian National University.
She previously held senior leadership roles at the International Committee of the Red Cross in Geneva, where she led health programmes across more than 80 countries and coordinated responses to major global crises, including the COVID-19 pandemic and the war in Ukraine. She is Co-Chair of the Lancet Commission on Health, Conflict and Forced Displacement.
