Shannon is an ACEM Advanced Trainee from NSW, currently working in retrieval medicine in the Central Australian outback. She completed her medical education and early emergency medicine training in South Africa before embracing a non-linear career path that ultimately led her to Australia. Passionate about critical care, she has particular interests in pre-hospital medicine, paediatrics, and education. Her experiences with burnout, moral injury, and vicarious trauma as a junior doctor drive her passion for transforming the system, ensuring others won’t have to face similar challenges. Currently, she serves as the trainee representative on the ACEM Workforce Wellbeing Network Executive and hopes to leverage this platform to advocate not only for trainees but for all members of the healthcare system.
