Dr Salote Behr is a senior emergency physician specialist and currently based at Labasa Hospital in Fiji, one of the three main national hospitals. She has previously worked in Lautoka and CWM Hospitals. As the current Head of the Emergency Department, she significantly influences emergency medical services in the Northern Division of Fiji. With nearly a decade of experience in Emergency medicine, she also serves as the Secretary of the Emergency Medicine Clinical Services Network in Fiji. In this role, she was part of the working group that finalised the launch of the first ever national standards Emergency Care document for Fiji in June this year.
An ACEM International Affiliate member and as a Pacific representative for PEMSIG (Paediatric Emergency Medicine Special Interest Group) under IFEM, Dr. Behr is active in the global emergency medicine community.
In 2023, she presented on behalf of Fiji EM care at the SAEM (Society of Academic Emergency Medicine) meeting in Texas, USA after being fortunate to have been awarded a Global EM travel award and recognised by AWAEM (Academy for Women in Academic Emergency Medicine) and GEMA (Global Emergency Medicine Academy).
Her interests include global emergency care, paediatric emergency, and critical care, retrieval and prehospital care, research and academia as she is actively involved in coordinating and co-facilitating trauma trainings, ACLS, APLS, PLS and MIMMS.
Balancing her career, she is not only dedicated to her role in improving emergency care in the Northern division, however when she is not busy, she is either traveling the world trying new food and meeting new people or simply enjoying family time with her 3 lovely children and husband.
