Jackson Newberry-Dupé

Jackson Newberry-Dupé is a PhD candidate in his final year at the University of Melbourne, school of population and global health. He is also a research fellow at the University of Monash, department of paediatrics and holds an honorary student position at the Murdoch Children’s Research Institute, centre for adolescent health. He has an honours degree in Psychology from the University of Newcastle, Australia, and has over 5 years’ experience in qualitative and quantitative research methods. His PhD project is an investigation of child and adolescent access and utilisation of emergency departments for self-harm, suicide- and mental health in Australia, including an exploration of the impacts of the COVID-19 pandemic on these presentations. His thesis will generate evidence which may help to inform policy responses to rising mental health issues among Australian young people and improve planning of future public health responses where social movement and access to primary healthcare is restricted.
