Barb came to ACEM in July 2024 in the second role of her fourth career. She began post-PhD in American academia, which she left post-tenure and promotion to Associate Professor. After migration to Australia she ran her own intercultural training and consulting business in Melbourne for 13 years. This was followed by 3 years of teaching English and Intercultural Communications at a university in Hungary. Career #4 commenced in 2021 at the Royal Victorian Eye and Ear Hospital where Barb was their first E&I Lead with responsibility for fulfilling the requirements of the Gender Equality Act as well as all other staff-focused equity and inclusion initiatives. She has 5 books published in various fields and a dozen awards for teaching, public speaking and writing.
